Rich is a native of Southern California and is an award-winning sports producer. He began his career in radio at KNJO in Thousand Oaks in 1980 covering sports and local news. Shortly thereafter, he became a sports producer for Comcast sports in Los Angeles. There he produced the award-winning Sports Corner, a high school sports show, that all-pro New York Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce dubbed “the ESPN of high school sports.” Also during this time Rich was a sports reporter for KTLA–Los Angeles. In the early ‘90s Rich hosted a sports talk show on all sports radio KMAX – the first all FM sports station. From 2009 - 2011 he produced the wildly popular “Prep Sports Night Live” for Time Warner Sportsnet. In 2011 he anchored Time Warner’s Sportsnet coverage of the NBA All-star game. After the sale of Time Warner in 2012, Rich produced The Franchise on Angels Radio AM 830 immediately following all Angels Baseball broadcasts. In 2015 The Franchise went nationwide joining SB Nation Radio. Concurrently, Rich joined the team at LA36 as an associate producer of the So Cal Prep Report and The High School Game of the Week. Rich plans on producing Prep Sports Night Live in the fall of 2021.
Since 1983, Rich has provided play-by-play for hundreds of high school and college sports events and has called over a dozen CIF-SS Football Championship games. For 4 years, Rich called the CIF-State Wrestling Championships. In 1994 he took over as President of the 605 All-star Football Classic, an annual high school all-star football game showcasing some of the best talent in the So Cal area. The game has a 53-year history. Rich and the Prep Sport Media Team are looking forward to promoting high school athletics and to provide scholarship/financial aid to deserving athletes as they continue to pursue their dreams.
Rich is a fan of the LA Raiders, and his favorite athlete is Jim Plunkett, quarterback for the LA Raiders because of his never say die attitude and his ability not only to make comebacks in his own life, but also on the football field.
